On September 29, 2002, the opening day of The Mary Baker Eddy Library, the program series debuted with a talk about how archivists, historians, and a publisher worked together to produce a new volume containing previously unpublished materials from the Library’s Collections & Resources.
Employing equal parts archival research, detective work, and publishing skill, the publication team developed an engaging autobiographical anthology—Mary Baker Eddy, Speaking for Herself—featuring Mary Baker Eddy’s previously unpublished memoir from 1902, Footprints Fadeless, as well as Retrospection and Introspection, first published by the author in 1891.
“From Archives to Bookshelf” was moderated by Jim Albins, manager of program development at the Library, and featured four noted panelists:
