Visiting Boston

Located on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston’s historic Back Bay, The Mary Baker Eddy Library is ideally situated for visitors to downtown Boston.

The Library is housed in one of a half-dozen historic buildings on the Christian Science Plaza, where visitors can tour the 1894 edifice and 1906 extension of The Mother Church (The First Church of Christ, Scientist). The 14-acre Plaza runs along the Avenue of the Arts (Huntington Avenue), where world-class museums, such as the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, are a short walk or subway ride away.

Symphony Hall, home of the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony Orchestra, is approximately one block south on Massachusetts Avenue, and fine shopping is available just north and east of the Library, including Boylston and Newbury Street boutiques and enclosed malls at the Prudential Center and Copley Place. An abundance of restaurants in the area offers diners everything from New England seafood to Italian, Spanish, and Thai cuisine.

For more information about the lively neighborhood in which the Library resides, please visit the Fenway Cultural District’s Web site at www.fenwayculture.org. The Mary Baker Eddy Library is a participant in the GoCard Boston program. See www.gocardboston.com for more information. Boston offers distinctive attractions throughout the city.
