Listen to a conversation with Dr. Richard Seager, author of <em>The World&#8217;s Parliament of Religions: The East\/West Encounter, Chicago, 1893<\/em>. The Mary Baker Eddy Library\u2019s Megan Peno joins him to discuss what the World\u2019s Parliament of Religions revealed about both the challenges and possibilities for dialogue among global faiths. The Parliament brought together an unprecedented gathering of religious\u00a0 traditions from both inside and outside the Judeo-Christian fold. For Christian Scientists, the conference was at the same time an exciting and complicated experience. He is the author of <em>The World\u2019s Parliament of Religions: The East\/West Encounter, Chicago, 1893<\/em>, in addition to other titles. Seager has taught at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Harvard University, and Hamilton College. He received a PhD in the study of religion from Harvard University, where his research explored the modern West and the United States, with an emphasis on the long history of the East\/West encounter. Her primary interest is the religious history of American women, and she has published many articles on women in Judaism, Christian Science, and American religious life, as well as authored several books on religion and women in America. Dr. Braude\u2019s current research focuses on spiritual influences in abstract painting. She recently taught a course titled \u201cSpiritual Paths to Abstract Art\u201d at Harvard Divinity School, examining various twentieth-century artists through the lens of religious studies.\r\n\r\nDr. Braude has a long-standing history with The Mary Baker Eddy Library.
