Celebrating 100 Years of Christian Scientists in Military Chaplaincy

Chaplain Martin F. Jackson, October 1918. Unknown photographer. Mary Baker Eddy Library Special Collections, P09195

Christian Science chaplains have served in every major conflict since the World War I. These men and women provide counseling to soldiers, conduct religious observances, engage in community service, and offer healing prayer to anyone asking for it.

The Library celebrates a century of Christian Science participation in military chaplaincy. Our latest exhibit gathers together documents, photographs, and objects that demonstrate the impact these individuals have made in serving the United States armed forces and their church. Please visit Archives & Special Collections on the fourth floor to learn more about the military roles that Christian Scientists have played over the decades.
