Celia P. Wight (c.1839\u20131912) nasceu em Topsham, Maine, e faleceu em Boston, Massachusetts. Sua profiss\u00e3o era modista e, embora tenha mostrado interesse em estudar com Mary Baker Eddy, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 registros de que tenha feito isso.<\/p>\n

A Faculdade de Metaf\u00edsica de Massachusetts foi uma institui\u00e7\u00e3o fundada por Mary Baker Eddy para ensinar a Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3, o sistema teol\u00f3gico e metaf\u00edsico que ela havia descoberto. Seu alvar\u00e1 foi escrito em 1880 e oficialmente concedido em 31 de janeiro de 1881.<\/p>\n

A Sra. Eddy foi Presidente da Faculdade e, no in\u00edcio, sua \u00fanica professora. Entre os temas que ela anunciava, havia Patologia, Ontologia, Terap\u00eautica, Ci\u00eancia Moral e Metaf\u00edsica adaptada ao tratamento de doen\u00e7as. Eram oferecidos os cursos \u201cPrim\u00e1rio\u201d e \u201cNormal\u201d. O Curso Prim\u00e1rio da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3 estava fundamentado no cap\u00edtulo \u201cRecapitula\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d de Ci\u00eancia e Sa\u00fade<\/em> e ensinava os alunos a curar por meio da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3.<\/p>\n

Em 1884, o Curso Normal foi institu\u00eddo com o prop\u00f3sito de treinar professores da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3. Os alunos desses cursos eram principalmente dos Estados Unidos e, quando se formavam, voltavam para casa e ministravam seus pr\u00f3prios cursos prim\u00e1rios da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3. Mais tarde, foram adicionadas aulas de obstetr\u00edcia ao curr\u00edculo da Faculdade de Metaf\u00edsica de Massachusetts, com o prop\u00f3sito de treinar praticistas da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3 para ajudar em casos de parto.<\/p>\n

Em maio de 1882, a Sra. Eddy abriu a faculdade em Boston, na Avenida Columbus. Ela fechou a faculdade em 1889, mas em 1898 formou o Conselho do Ensino dA Primeira Igreja de Cristo, Cientista, em Boston, Massachusetts, o qual atualmente realiza o trabalho da Faculdade, ministrando o Curso Normal a cada tr\u00eas anos. Aqueles que completam o Curso Normal ministram o Curso Prim\u00e1rio em v\u00e1rias partes do mundo.<\/p>\n
