Recebi uma circular referente aos Livros<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> e fiquei feliz por saber que poderia receber um desconto no pedido de uma d\u00fazia de exemplares, pois agora creio que poderia doar um jogo de livros de vez em quando. Esse Livrinho<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> a tornar\u00e1 famosa para todas as \u00e9pocas e, ainda que fosse impresso em letras de ouro sobre p\u00e1ginas de prata, n\u00e3o receberia suficiente honra. Recebi uns poucos exemplares do Dr. Sherman*** mas naturalmente eu tive de pagar-lhe o pre\u00e7o integral. Incluo aqui dois d\u00f3lares<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> pelo meu an\u00fancio<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span>. Espero que chegue em tempo para a pr\u00f3xima edi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Envio tamb\u00e9m este an\u00fancio que recortei do jornal de ontem \u00e0 noite, para que a Senhora saiba o que algumas dessas pessoas est\u00e3o fazendo por aqui. Digo-lhe, Sra. Eddy, que este Oeste \u00e9 um lugar esquisito se comparado com a convencional e antiga cidade de Boston. Mas aqui estou, e aqui devo permanecer por algum tempo, embora esteja totalmente indignada com o modo de proceder de alguns deles, assim como indignado est\u00e1 o pessoal do Dr. Sherman. N\u00f3s nos recusamos a ter qualquer liga\u00e7\u00e3o com esses fals\u00e1rios dos Swarts \u2014 eles devem ter se casado em poucos dias. Meus Pacientes est\u00e3o indo bem com o que eu tenho feito, mas meu Neg\u00f3cio n\u00e3o est\u00e1 nem de longe t\u00e3o bom quanto estava quando a Senhora veio aqui, o que, logicamente, n\u00e3o \u00e9 nada natural, mas tenho tido bom \u00e2nimo desde que lhe escrevi e sei que \u00e9 apenas quest\u00e3o de tempo, pois meus Pacientes nunca estiveram t\u00e3o bem no mundo como est\u00e3o agora, e tenho alguns casos bem dif\u00edceis.<\/p>\n

Meus alunos dizem que, no trabalho de cura, o livro realiza tanto quanto, sen\u00e3o mais do que eles conseguem realizar. Sim, querida, concordo contigo que a limpa, convencional e antiga cidade de Boston \u00e9 o lugar para se sentir em casa e, de minha parte, espero que voltes a te estabelecer aqui em um futuro n\u00e3o muito distante. Sim, tu podes curar, com mais \u00eaxito do que nunca, e agora enfrenta e derruba a mentira que negaria isso. Caroline D. Noyes (1846\u20131922) nasceu e faleceu em Gardiner, no estado de Maine. Ela veio a se interessar pela Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3 em 1882, ap\u00f3s assistir a palestras na sala de visitas da resid\u00eancia de Mary Baker Eddy, localizada na Avenida Columbus, 569. Mais tarde, ela foi aluna da Sra. Eddy, concluindo o Curso Prim\u00e1rio (1884), o Curso Normal (1885) e o Curso de Obstetr\u00edcia (1887). A Sra. Noyes passou a fazer parte da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Cientistas Crist\u00e3os em mar\u00e7o de 1884, e se filiou \u00c0 Primeira Igreja de Cristo, Cientista, em 31 de dezembro de 1892, da qual foi membro at\u00e9 seu falecimento. Ela foi uma das pioneiras da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3 no centro-oeste dos Estados Unidos. Em 1886, ela fundou o primeiro Instituto da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3 em Illinois e tamb\u00e9m foi membro fundador da Igreja de Cristo (Cientista), de Chicago (que mais tarde se tornou Primeira Igreja de Cristo, Cientista, Chicago). No final da d\u00e9cada de 1890, ela retornou para Gardiner, onde continuou a trabalhar como praticista e professora da Ci\u00eancia Crist\u00e3, at\u00e9 1914, com an\u00fancio no The Christian Science Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Bradford Sherman (1827\u20131917) nasceu em Eastham, Massachusetts, e faleceu em Chicago, Illinois. Mary Baker Eddy se referiu \u00e0 pr\u00e1tica mental err\u00f4nea desta forma: \u201c\u00c9 a a\u00e7\u00e3o perniciosa de uma mente mortal a controlar outra por motivos errados e \u00e9 exercida com prop\u00f3sitos ou equivocados ou malignos\u201d (Ci\u00eancia e Sa\u00fade<\/em> 451:26).
