Support the Library
Help the Library by contributing now—online or by mail.
Research & Reference Services is open for the public to access the Library’s collections of original historical materials 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and on the first Saturday of every month. Please call ahead on holiday weekends to confirm hours.
When you arrive at the Library, please enter through the Massachusetts Avenue doors to check in at the Reception Desk for access to the fourth floor. Once there, Research & Reference staff will be available to help you get started, providing a copy of the research guidelines and a thorough orientation to our collections, including our databases. Our staff will also discuss your project with you and help locate information and materials.
To expedite this process, you can complete a Research Application before you arrive. You may also wish to familiarize yourself with the information listed to the right: Research & Reference Services policies, borrowing cards, fellowships, and First Saturdays. You are also welcome to contact the staff in advance to schedule an appointment or ask questions. Appointments are not required.
Visiting Remotely
If you are unable to visit the Library in person, we offer a variety of online resources, including Ask a Researcher to field your queries. Every month, staff respond to hundreds of historical questions related to Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science, in person, online, and by mail. Due to the heavy volume of inquiries, it may take up to 6 weeks to respond to a question. There is no charge for this service beyond copy costs, when applicable.
The Library is seeking bright, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers to join our docent program.
