One World 2021

Beloved children, the world has need of you, —
and more as children than as men and women:
it needs your innocence, unselfishness,
faithful affection, uncontaminated lives.
— Mary Baker Eddy
In July and August, The Mary Baker Eddy Library held its 16th annual One World program—a series of free art and cultural events targeted for young people ages 5–12.
This series took place over six consecutive Tuesday mornings. Each week we learned about a different corner of the globe, with cultural activities from the nations of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Aotearoa (Māori, the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand), Mexico, India, Greece, and Philippines.
This year’s program was designed for everyone to explore online—from home, summer camp, or anywhere there was a computer screen. Events included live performances, interviews with Christian Science Monitor reporters, arts and crafts, storytimes, and complimentary book giveaways.
