About One World

Every summer since 2006, the Library has hosted this free community program, offering learning experiences about cultures from all over the globe. Families and youth groups engage in interactive presentations by performer-educators, artmaking, exhibit and film adventures, storytelling, and a free book giveaway related to the featured countries.

In recent years, programming has expanded to include numerous outdoor activities on the Christian Science Plaza. Guest performer-educators have included Jean Appolon Expressions (Haiti), Veronica Robles Cultural Center (Mexico), Movimentu Shokanti (Cabo Verde), and Iskwelahang Pilipino (Philippines), reflecting Boston’s diverse cultural landscape.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Library’s namesake, valued the beauty and potential of children to make a positive difference in our world. In that spirit, join the fun and inspiration of One World—open to all.
