This episode delves into the subject of spiritual autobiography by drawing on excerpts from our 2012 program Spiritual Writing: Mary Baker Eddy and Julian of Norwich, which featured Rev. Dr. Carl Scovel, Senior Minister Emeritus of Boston’s King’s Chapel, and Judy Huenneke, the Library’s senior research archivist. Scovel and Huenneke talk respectively about two different examples of spiritual autobiography—Julian of Norwich’s Revelations of Divine Love, from the late fourteenth century, and Mary Baker Eddy’s Retrospection and Introspection, from the late nineteenth century. Dr. Michael Hamilton, our Executive Director, introduces aspects of the Library’s holdings that relate to the subject.
