From the Papers: A letter from a healer
In May 1885 Annie Knott wrote to Mary Baker Eddy for the first time, from her home in Detroit, Michigan.
“I came to Detroit in March,” Knott reported, “for the purpose of introducing your system of metaphysical healing.”
Knott’s long career in Christian Science began in Michigan and took her to Massachusetts in 1903, where she subsequently worked for many years for The First Church of Christ, Scientist. She was one of the first two women appointed to serve on the Christian Science Board of Lectureship and later became the first woman elected to the Christian Science Board of Directors. You can read more about her in the article Women of History: Annie Knott.
