Did Mary Baker Eddy write it? “Better healers”
Mary Baker Eddy to Ezra M. Buswell, July 12, 1903. L08352.
We are sometimes asked to authenticate the following statement, which has been attributed to Mary Baker Eddy:
Unless we have better healers, and more of this work than any other, is done, our Cause will not “stand and having done all stand”.
Demonstration is the whole of Christian Science, nothing else proves it, nothing else will save it and continue it with us. God has said this—and Christ Jesus has proved it.
Eddy did indeed write this. These words can be found in a letter that she wrote to Ezra M. Buswell on July 12, 1903.1
This portion of the letter was later republished in the June 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal.2 The same letter can also be found on pages 209–210 of the book Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer.3 Several authors have also referenced Eddy’s words in articles appearing in the Christian Science publications over the years.
