Bible Translations Used by Mary Baker Eddy

October 8, 2010

Mary Baker Eddy quoted several Bible translations in her published works. She was also deeply interested in scriptural research and consulted numerous reference works on the Bible.

See below for a list of the translations that she quotes, as well as books that were in her library at the time of her passing in 1910. It does not represent every Bible Eddy consulted during her long life. For example, she quotes a translation of the Lord’s Prayer on page 16 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures but does not give the source.

Bible translations:

American Standard Version.
Fenton, Ferrar. Translation of the Old and New Testaments.
King James Version.
Moulton, Richard G. The Modern Reader’s Bible.
Nave’s Topical Bible.
Noyes, George R. The New Testament.
Revised Version.
Rotherham, Joseph B. The New Testament Critically Emphasized.
Smith, Julia E. Translation of the Old and New Testaments.
Tyndale, William. Translation of the New Testament.
Wycliffe, John. Translation of the New Testament.
